Grace on Casual Day.

I noticed I've gotten more severe on the line thickness since switching to an art tablet. It might be a good thing or a bad thing.

Fictional characters visiting Japan must go to a hot spring... it must be a law or something.
I think this is my first complete picture using the tablet. I debated during the process if I should convert the image to a bitmap before coloring, as I would end up with a bitmap picture when drawing it by hand and scanning it. I did this the hard way though, using vector shapes to block out the colored areas.
I may have gone too far with the light and steam effects, but I wanted to be a little realistic. I also wonder if I should have turned Annie's head so that more of her face would be visible.

Maybe just where I live.

It's isn't identical, but this is a remake of an old picture you might remember. The original is from 2002, and it's the most commonly used link banner from the site over the years.

Tabitha, or Sparrow. Maybe it'll be "Tabitha Sparrow", or "Tabitha Sparrow Greene". I might have to come up with a new explanation about her eyes if I change her past.
Sparrow has always been a little awkward for me to draw, she isn't the usual kind of female character I make. She's not a cutish girl-woman, she's more ... I don't know, a classical super-heroine type.
I suspect in Pulse v2 she'll have the same personality, I've always liked how she and Annie are so different. Her past though might be radically changed, simplified most likely. She might be a military fighter pilot.
She'll certainly have long hair like this. I grew to regret giving her such short hair for most of v1.

Just something kind of silly and simple.

I have been considering that the new comic might be black & white (in addition to being drawn with an art tablet). So, I thought I should experiment with some black and white coloring options these last few pictures.
Anyway, I was stumped on dialog. She could be either talking into some kind of intercom, or some kind of personal recorder to remind her of something.
My original plan was that she would be saying "Remember to buy larger towels.".

Here are three plans for Pulse. They include:
The building. I assume that there would be four floors with two labs each, devoted one similar kind of project. Then between them it would be two floors, alternated between recreation and housing.
Annie's room. It's similar to the current room, only a little smaller. There is a wall of sliding-door closets.
Their floor. There is a long hallway in the middle, separating the lab from the other on the same floor. There are three elevators on the top, and a large freight elevator on the bottom. To be similar to the current comic, Dr. Mae's office is entered from the hallway (the same with the doctor for each lab).

I wanted to draw Annie in a Kimono, but decided to look up what was a traditional Chinese outfit (considering her ancestors are Chinese, not Japanese).
I didn't know in advance, but the Chinese version is called a "Hanfu".
